PURPOSE
The Volunteer Liability Waiver is designed to help protect the Museum from legal claims arising out of a volunteer’s participation in Museum activities. By signing this Waiver, the volunteer acknowledges risks associated with volunteering and agrees not to hold the Museum legally responsible for injuries, illness, or property damage that may occur during volunteer service.
This Waiver should be signed in addition to a Volunteer Agreement, not as a substitute for it; especially when the volunteer is participating in inherently dangerous activity. Examples of such activities could be attending archaeological dig sites, moving big items, working with potentially toxic materials, operating machinery, conducting or observing science experiments, or working with animals (the list is not meant to be exhaustive).
